Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow – High Temperature warning due to come into effect from 12pm on Friday the 11th of July, ending at 6am on Saturday the 12th of July. The affected counties include Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Tipperary. The warning will be extended to all of Ireland from noon on Saturday until 6am on Sunday morning.
Dublin Simon Community is urging the public to be mindful of those experiencing homelessness during these extreme weather conditions. The high temperatures pose increased risk of heat stress, dehydration and sunburn. Those sleeping rough or spending significant portions of their day out on the streets are particularly vulnerable.
Our Street Outreach Team, which operates 365 days a year, will prioritise those most vulnerable during this period of hot weather. We are asking the public to help us assist people who may be sleeping rough, particularly in more isolated areas of Dublin city centre and the suburbs.
Here’s how you can help:
- Use the Rough Sleeper Alerts app, available on iPhones and Androids, to let us know about someone in need.
By pledging your support, you can help us reach those experiencing these conditions out on our streets. Please consider making a donation today.
