Thank you for your interest in the Dublin Simon Community!
Volunteers are at the core of the Dublin Simon Community’s work. They work alongside professional staff to deliver vital services to people who are homeless. While Dublin Simon is well known for our nightly volunteer soup run, we also do a huge amount that people might not know about.
For more than 40 years, Dublin Simon has been providing solutions to homelessness and its related issues. We provide services to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, from emergency accommodation to treatment and supported housing.
We recruit part-time volunteers on a quarterly basis throughout the year, January, May and September.
Volunteers contribute to the running of our services through carrying out a diverse range of roles and utilising their varied skill sets.
Our Soup Run volunteers have been a familiar presence on the streets of Dublin for over 40 years. The first members of the Dublin Simon Community (students from UCD and TCD) offered fellowship to people experiencing homelessness in Dublin. The much-appreciated practical comforts of a cup of warm soup and a sandwich are still a welcome and long-lived practice in Dublin. The soup run service also acts as a vital tool of engagement to link people who are homeless in with our outreach team.
Our Full-Time volunteers are an integral part of quality service delivery. The commitment and enthusiasm they bring to our services makes Dublin Simon Community a better place for staff and people using our services.
At Dublin Simon Community we have four types of volunteering opportunities:
