Dublin Simon Launches Calendar of Christmas Fundraising Events with ‘Sing for Simon’
December 2023: Dublin Simon Community’s Christmas fundraising events calendar kicks off with its annual ‘Sing for Simon’ launch in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre in Dublin City on Thursday 7th December and all are welcome to attend.
The event commences at 5:30pm and features performances from artists such as Curtis Walsh, Sophie Doyle Ryder, Hawke The Band, Ciaran Moran, Liliana, Georgia G, Taylor D, and the fabulous Lucan Gospel Choir.
Sing for Simon
Every Christmas dozens of choirs, bands and musical groups across Dublin and the surrounding counties take to the streets of Dublin and surrounding counties to lend their singing voices to support people experiencing homelessness by raising essential funds.
Head of Fundraising & Communications at Dublin Simon Community, Emma Kilkenny said:
“We look forward to once again taking to the streets of Dublin, singing and playing music in a way that has become synonymous with Simon’s fundraising efforts for people experiencing homelessness.
“This Christmas is particularly tough as the number of people in homelessness has hit record highs during one of the coldest winter seasons in years. Dublin Simon urgently needs funds to support the growing number of people seeking support.
“We are asking the public to please give what they can, and to remember those who will not be at home this festive season simply because they do not have a place to call home.”
Contactless donations
Dublin Simon has a range of way to facilitate donations on the street and online, including cash collection, contactless donation methods and via their website at dubsimon.ie. Every donation method utilised by Dublin Simon is safe and secure and we are urging the public to donate if they see our choirs and collectors on the street this December.
Powerscourt Townhouse Centre is also hosting a Dublin Simon Giving Tree, which people can visit and donate to show their support for the charity’s services using a tap-to-donate feature available to visitors and shoppers throughout the Christmas period. A secure donation portal provided by iDonate is available at the Giving Tree to facilitate contactless donations in Powerscourt Townhouse Centre all through the Christmas season.
