Donal's Testimonial ‘Session for the Simon Community'

I wanted to mark the end of January- a tough month for many- with something joyful. So the idea was simple; gather together as many trad musicians as possible, fill a pub full of tunes and ‘lift the roof off it’ in the name of community and a really worthwhile charity.

Partnering with Dublin Simon Community was a natural choice for me.

Their work supporting people experiencing homelessness is nothing short of essential and it felt right to pair the warmth of a session with the sheer virtue of giving back.

There’s something magical about a session — the spontaneity, the shared rhythm, the way strangers become friends over a few reels and a pint. But there’s something even more powerful about it when it extends beyond merely entertaining to caring for others.

"The hope now is to grow this into an annual tradition"

 — a fixed event in the year when people come for the tunes and stay for the cause to support those most in need.

It’s music with heart and we’re only getting started.
