Part-time Volunteers

Part-time volunteers play a large part in assisting Dublin Simon Community management, staff and residents in running our services.

Part Time volunteers take on roles in our soup run, social club, treatment and housing services and charity shops.

All volunteers are provided with induction and training on commencement of their roles with Dublin Simon Community. Further training is provided throughout the course of the part-time volunteer placement to support volunteers in their duties.

Currently throughout our services we have over 170 part time volunteers. This figure does not include the many additional casual volunteers that assist with fundraising and events throughout the year.

Part-time volunteers must be 18+ and give 3 - 7 hours one evening a week for a minimum commitment of 1 year. The roles include:

  • Social Club Volunteers run a members social club four nights a week to promote social inclusion and prevent isolation
  • Nightly Soup Run - The Soup Run service operates seven nights a week, 365 days a year and is operated by volunteers who work closely with our outreach team to engage people who are rough sleeping
  • Treatment Services - Volunteers assist with the day to day running of the treatment services through organising group activities and social outings
  • Charity Shops - Volunteers assist with the day to day running of our charity shops on Camden Street and Thomas Street

All applications go through the Dublin Simon Community volunteer recruitment procedure and are subject to Garda vetting and reference checking.

We recruit quarterly for part-time volunteers. See above for recruitment schedule.

Fundraising Volunteers
If you don't have much spare time or are unsure if you can make an ongoing commitment but would like to get involved in Dublin Simon Community, the fundraising team are always looking for volunteers to help out with their activities. This might consist of shaking buckets, church gate collections, selling tickets for events, assisting with the fun run or taking part in the mini-marathon, anything really, depending on the time of year!

Current Fundraising Volunteer Opportunities

We are calling for groups of friends, families, schools, colleges, communities, clubs and societies of 4 people or more to take part in Tesco Stores across Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow.
