Beneath Dublin’s festive lights, too many of our neighbours are living in darkness.
This Christmas, people like Mick are sleeping on the cold streets, but your kindness can be the guiding star that leads them to warmth, safety, and recovery.
Mick is 67. Sadly, we see more and more people like Mick who need our help every day. People in their 60s, 70s, and 80s who’ve spent their entire lives working, who never imagined they’d end up homeless.
Can you imagine, what it’s like to lose everything in your later years – just aching joints, bitter cold, and a damp sleeping bag?
This Christmas night, without help, Mick will once again bed down in a shopfront on Henry Street. A sleeping bag and cardboard will be all that separates him from the freezing stone beneath — unless we step in.
You can support someone like Mick to start their journey out of homelessness. 💛
“They know my name… it means the world.
When the Dublin Simon lads stop to talk, it’s the only time in the day I feel like a human being again.”
Can you imagine waking up on cold, damp cardboard on Christmas morning, afraid and alone?
That’s the reality for people like Mick, but it doesn’t have to be. With a heartfelt Christmas gift, you can provide Mick and people like him with the vital support they need to take the first steps into recovery and away from homelessness.

Tomorrow morning, too many of our neighbours will wake shivering to the clatter of shop shutters lifting, telling them it’s time to ‘move along’, that they’re not welcome.
But thanks to you, tomorrow they’ll also encounter kindness. Your compassion and generosity mean that from 7 am every morning, Dublin Simon’s Outreach team are on the streets offering help and support to people sleeping
rough like Mick.
Nothing stops them, not the cold, not the wet, not the rain. Your kindness helps make sure our services work 365 days a year.
