Want to fundraise for Dublin Simon Community this Christmas but not sure where to start?
Similar to the twelve days of Christmas, we have created our very own Simon’s 12 challenges of Christmas jammed packed with festive fundraising ideas to ensure YULE raise not just spirits but vital funds for Dublin Simon Community this Christmas.
On the 1st Day of Christmas – An Evening of Festive Foods
Indulge the family or housemates with an evening of our favorite festive foods. Nothing says Christmas like a homemade mince pie and mulled wine combo. Keep Michael Bublé playing in the background or Home alone on the TV and ask for donations for this cosy Christmas night in.
On the 2nd Day of Christmas – Get creative, get crafty
Organise a crafty Christmas fair in your workplace, school hall or local community centre. Make, bake, sew and stitch seasonal goodies in return for donations to Dublin Simon Community. This could be anything from Christmas crackers to homemade Christmas cookies. You could even set up a Facebook fundraiser in aid of Dublin Simon Community and sell your wares online.
On the 3rd Day of Christmas – Santa Splash
From Donabate to Dun Laoghaire, everyone is throwing caution to the wind, and getting involved in a Santa swim. Join the masses and take the plunge this Christmas, either on Christmas morning itself or organise your own Santa splash with friends and family. Don your Santa suit, and brave the cold for Dublin Simon Community.
On the 4th Day of Christmas – The Colour of Hope
Challenge your class’s creativity with our “Colour of Hope” colouring competition.
Each class/school will receive a giant A1 poster to colour and create. Share a message of Hope for those experiencing homelessness this Christmas, while teaching your students about those less fortunate. Set up a class fundraising page on JustGiving and raise vital funds for Dublin Simon Community. Don’t forget to submit your class’s entry to us to be in with a chance of winning one of our great prizes!
**Special thanks to the hard work of UCD, The Dublin Lions Clubs and the very talented Paula McGloin who designed the poster
On the 5th Day of Christmas – Sing for Simon
Sing your heart out with our long-standing tradition Sing for Simon. Whether you sing solo in the shower, with your choir or use it as a reason to get the family together for a sing –song, whatever the reason, those Christmas classics won’t sing themselves. You can choose to sing at one of our locations or feel free to suggest somewhere new to us.
We can help you organise permission and permits, and of course supply the obligatory Santa hats!
On the 6th Day of Christmas - Create Simon House of Light @Home
Our annual Simon House of Light takes on a new departure this year. We are calling on the most festive houses in Ireland to recreate our Simon House of Light @Home. If your house can be seen from the North Pole, we want to hear from you this Christmas. Enter our Simon House of Light @Home competition and submit your 2- minute video showcasing your lighting efforts.
On the 7th Day of Christmas – Set an Extra Seat at the Table this Christmas
Set an extra place at the Christmas dinner this year and bring a sense of hope to somebody without a place to call home this Christmas. Dedicate the place to a loved one who can’t make it home this Christmas or is out working on our front line for Christmas dinner. For just €15.00 you can set an extra seat at our virtual Christmas dinner table and give somebody the gift of a personal care kit.
On the 8th Day of Christmas – Be a virtual bucket shaker
Once December hits, you can usually hear us bucket shaking from one end of Grafton Street to the other. While we might not be able to take to the streets in our usual capacity this year, we would love you to start a virtual bucket shake at home or in your office. By setting up a JustGiving fundraising page we can still raise vital funds for Dublin Simon Community all from the comfort of your own couch.
On the 9th Day of Christmas – Enter our Christmas photo exhibition
Don’t let your Christmas decorating go unnoticed. Sprinkle your Christmas sparkle over on your social channel, making sure to tag Dublin Simon Community while you do!
Donate the price of a hot drink by texting DUBSIMON to 50300 and one lucky winner will receive an extra gift for their stocking this year.
On the 10th Day of Christmas – Organise a Santa Dash 5KM/10KM Fun Run
Get the whole family off the couch and onto the streets for fun 5K or 10K Santa Dash! Run off all that excess eating, and put new gym gear to the test. Join one of the annual organised Santa Dash runs or organise your own at a time and date that suits you! Don’t forget to don your Santa Suit.
On the 11th Day of Christmas – Take part in our Christmas Cooking class
Master those Christmas classics by taking part in our Christmas cooking challenge. Serve up creative canapés or festive favourites using just 4 ingredients, challenge 3 friends by social media to create their own dishes and donate €5 to Dublin Simon Community! Ready, set COOK!
On the 12th Day of Christmas – It’s Christmas Jumper Day
It’s not Christmas without Christmas jumper day! The more outlandish and cheesy the better. Cosy up in your festive Winter woolies and help raise funds for Dublin Simon Community. Encourage the office, classroom or community groups to get involved and swap their normal clothes for Christmas jumpers on the day.
