Laura Launches Dublin Simon Fun Run

Monday 17th September

At a photocall in St. Stephen’s Green today RTÉ presenter Laura Woods was on hand to launch the 2007 Dublin Simon Fun Run, an annual event which raises much needed funds for the charity which works with homeless people.

The Dublin Simon Fun Run takes place on Saturday 13th October at 10.00am in the Phoenix Park.

Staged over five miles (eight kilometres), everyone is invited to run, walk, jog, saunter, amble or simply come out and support those taking part. Last year 2000 people took part in the race, with many more attending on the day to cheer on the runners – this year the aim is to significantly increase that number.

Launched in 1983, the Dublin Simon Fun Run is the largest charity organised running event in Ireland, and has raised over €1m since its inception.

A number of great prizes will be awarded on the day for the fastest times in a number of categories, and there will also be a prize for the school which raises the most sponsorship funds per participant.

Anyone wishing to take part in the race can register online at www.funrun.ie or contact Dublin Simon Community on 01 671 5551. The entry fee is €20 and sponsorship cards are available from the same number.

The 2007 Dublin Simon Fun Run is sponsored by Dublin’s Q102.
