Supported Housing:
Our projects on the North Circular Road and Sean MacDermott St provide high support housing for 44 single homeless people with mental health, addiction or personal care needs. Our residents are mostly people who have been homeless for long periods of time and who do not have the capacity to live independently. Every resident has their own room and the houses have large communal rooms and gardens.
Referral Criteria
We accept referrals for:
- Single persons over 18 years who are registered on a Dublin Local Authority Homeless List
- Persons in need of ongoing high levels of support
Referral Process
- Contact the service at the numbers below giving name, service and email address
- When a vacancy arises, referral forms are sent to all those on email list inviting applications
- Referrals accepted from any professional person or agency working with a homeless person
Services
Our project operates a case management system where staff support residents with:
- Individualised support plans
- Life skills training to increase ability to maintain independent or semi-independent living
- Creating links with other support services such as job seeking, MABS, social services, occupational therapy, general medical and mental health services
Accommodation is single room with 9 en suite and 35 with shared bathrooms. Full meal service provided.
Our service is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Waking cover is not provided. Staff on call for emergencies only.
Support Services
Our house is run by full time staff, full and part time volunteers and community employment workers who are motivated and committed to providing a supportive environment for residents which helps them live as independently as possible. Staff and volunteers also arrange a regular programme of social activities to promote interpersonal skills.
Continuum of Care
Where the needs of residents change, the staff team work to refer the resident to more appropriate accommodation. Where a resident has successfully overcome issues which prevented them accessing mainstream housing, they may then be referred to low support voluntary housing – such as Dublin Simon’s Canal Road project, private rented or local authority accommodation (with support if appropriate). Where care needs increase a resident may be referred to higher support housing, relevant mental health services or to a nursing home.
