Service User Participation
Service User Participation encourages our clients to become involved with Dublin Simon Community in a more positive manner; as experts through experience.
Referrals
Service User Participation is open to anybody who has used any of the services of Dublin Simon Community; involvement is encouraged but is of course completely voluntary.
What We Do
Service User Participation has so far supported clients to:
Form a development group, which has been meeting every month for over a year now. This group discusses issues affecting homeless people and come up with innovative ideas to combat them.
Volunteer in Dublin Simon Community. We are currently running a pilot programme under which service users are volunteering six hours a week in various services.
Perform an interactive theatre piece at our last community day entitled “The Frustration of Homelessness”, which was received very well.
Attend training in skills such as public speaking, good communication, assertiveness and confidence and meeting facilitation.
Organise two “speak outs”, where service users had an opportunity to come and speak about their issues, and to be heard. The Director of the Homeless Agency attended the second.
