ArtCraft.ie website supports artists that are homeless or living with disabilities giving an online space to celebrate creativity and share their stories. Set up by Antonia Caravateanu, their mission is to enable disadvantaged artists to become financially independent while building their self-confidence. It is about providing them with the opportunity to make a living by using their talent with artists earning 60% of the profit from each purchase.

One of these artists is John, a resident in Simon’s supported housing.

“I only started painting recently, as part of the art classes organised by Simon Community. I was very surprised to be told I have talent. I enjoy painting, it relaxes me and takes my mind off the hardships of life. And having my paintings admired means the world to me."

John is a participant in art classes provide by Dublin Simon Community's Literacy and Personal Development service which aims to engage people accessing our services in education, training, employment and personal development.

By providing classes and workshops we wish to encourage personal development, active participation and greater social interaction. We believe meaningful activities are central to providing structure, purpose, wellbeing, intellectual stimulation, self-esteem, socialisation and independence in the lives of people using our services.
